MLB: Oakland Athletic will now accept bitcoin payments for 2021 season
Oakland? Athletic are now accepting bitcoin payments for a season ticket pass and private suite till 1 April 2021
Oakland Athletic’s President David Kaval has announced that the baseball club will now accept bitcoin payments for 2021 season tickets.
Oakland Athletic now follow other US sports teams such as the Dallas Mavericks (NBA) and the Sacramento Kings (NBA) in accepting the cryptocurrency as a form of payment.
The announcement states that the Oakland Athletic will sell the following in exchange for a single bitcoin:
- A 2021 full season ticket
- Six-person suite
The suites provide groups of larger than 4 people to watch a baseball games and the price usually amounts to $594 per game. Meanwhile, a regular season ticket costs $64,800.
We invite our fans to become the first bitcoin suite holders in sports. We’re excited to be one of a handful of teams to accept cryptocurrency for payment and the first to price tickets in crypto instead of U.S. currency. The price of a season suite may fluctuate depending on when it’s purchased, which adds to the excitement.
Fans who decide to purchase the full suite will not only benefit from a private room but will experience a special experience, including free snakes and a private restroom.
The offer ends on April 1st and due to bitcoin’s fluctuating price it may be cheaper to pay by bitcoin rather than US dollars.
