Bitget inks partnership with football legend Leo Messi
Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget announced it had entered a partnership deal with footballer Lionel Messi just a month before the player captains Argentina during the Qatar World Cup.
Messi jumps on crypto bandwagon – again
The Paris Saint-Germain star signed the partnership with Bitget to offer his fans an opportunity to explore Web3 and trade on the crypto exchange. According to the official release, Messi and Bitget will work on a few initiatives – including a movie production and the possibility for “more impactful efforts, extending beyond cryptocurrency and football.”
This is not the first time Lionel Messi has entered the crypto world. After he transferred from FC Barcelona, it was confirmed that the new contract with PSG? included the so-called “$PSG Fan Tokens” as part of his salary.
Gracy Chen, managing director of Bitget, commented the exchange is focusing on reflecting “the diversity and richness of our platform community in the partnerships the company chooses.
“We open up Web 3 to sports fans; they open the field to crypto traders. And to top it all off, we pool our resources to help those who need it. I can’t imagine it any other way,” Chen said.
Bitget has become a partner with many sports teams during the last few years and has behemoths such as Juventus, Galatasaray or Team Spirit in its portfolio.
Chen said the company believes Messi will lead the Argentinian team to new heights.
“We look forward to getting to know Messi – the man, the myth, the GOAT – but also the philanthropist, the activist, the humanist. We can’t wait to hit the ground running and work with him to make a real, lasting impact for the future,” she concluded.
